Note about the wasteland picture : it’s just a regular wetland area that is flooded in winter and dry the rest of the year. There’s nothing wrong about it except that it looks barren when dry (regular grass doesn’t succeed on it). Ducklings will hatch there every year so that’s one of the few natural places left in this urbanized area.
