Hawaii is a new island that was never attached to any big continent and far away from any other land so it's pretty obvious that these small reptiles who don't swim didn't get there by themselves. Several gecko species got introduced by the earlier settlers from polynesia, and several like these gold dust day gecko on the big island got introduced much more recently, possibly in the seventies.
